A friend of mine recently got a tattoo on his arm. A tribute, but also what I deem as memorabilia from his recent trip to Thailand. It got me to revisit the idea of me getting a finger tattoo.
I know I want one. I’ve wanted one for a while, but the trick is what to put on there.
Why a finger tatt? I don’t know. Probably inspired by Rihanna, because she’s awesome.
My hands are rather large, and so are my fingers. My friend, Pearl has always made fun of this fact and suggested I tattoo the Bible *sticks tongue out*
Any way, do you guys have any ideas on what I should write?

The Shining Girls

On the topic of books, The Shining Girls. I’m reading it at the same time as Half of a Yellow Sun (yes, it’s possible).

Lauren Beukes is incredibly talented. Another African (more specifically, South African) fiction writer. Loving what’s coming out of us.

If only I could write something. I feel like there’s so much potential, I just have no idea how or where I’m going to start.

I Had An Asthma Attack

Never in the history of me doing a 5, 8, 10 or 15KM have I had an asthma attack but for some odd reason, I had my first one at Nike’s Move Jozi. How unfortunate. Although, my attacks are never as dramatic as they make them seem in the movies. In fact, if you were running along me, you wouldn’t have known. But I knew.

Besides that, I enjoyed Move Jozi. The route was cool. Johannesburg is really beautiful at night. But I’m really a slow runner *Kanye shrug*

Well, I’m in a Chimamanda Adichie phase. Her writing is incredible. I might possibly be in love with her. I would love to meet her, and she’s making me believe so much in African fiction.
African writers (more specifically, South African writers) are focused on sports, political and business writing. I like fiction more than nonfiction, so I tend to read international titles more.
Now I’m on Half of a Yellow Sun, after reading Americanah. And I just realised that it’s being made into a movie with Chiwetel Eikofor, Thandi Newton and Anika Noni Rose and Hakeem Kae-Kazim.
I like the cast a lot. I wish there were more unknowns but I guess it’s not a number 1 bestseller so they need some meat behind it.
Update: I am still reading this book only reaching half way. It is not what I expected at all. I was not ready for the violence of the coup *Oops is this a spoiler*
I’ll let you know how it goes along when I’m done. Still incredible writing.
